TEAM JODY GETS GLOBAL IN L.A.

UMPG ruler Jody Gerson welcomes UMG overlord Lucian Grainge to the pubco's inaugural Global Creative Conference, as UMPG writer/Interscope artist Emile Haynie hums a few bars of his presentation on streaming playlists.

The event brought together 75 worldwide execs and an array of artists, writers, managers and others to address opportunities for songs and songsmiths in an evolving marketplace. Guests and participants included Grainge, Atom Factory head/artist manager Troy Carter and folks from Apple, Spotify, ABC and other relevant entities.

A private event at the Chateau Marmont featured music curated by Haynie, while a gathering at Capitol Studios found guests serenaded by the legendary Randy Newman, who was interviewed by award-winning novelist and UMPG songwriter Michael Chabon. Gerson underscored that with so many digital platforms available, “our future is within our own control.”
