APPLE STREAMS ON DRAKE-FUTURE: 2X+ ALL SERVICES FOR DRAKE'S LAST SET

In its first 72 hours, Drake-Future's What a Time to Be Alive earned 29m streams in the U.S. on Apple Music, rights holders say. For comparison, Drake's last mixtape, If You're Reading This It's Too Late, did 14m in the U.S. across all streaming platforms in the same amount of time. Dr. Dre's Compton: A Soundtrack did 25m in its first seven days.

What a Time (on CMYMB/Republic/Epic) is slated to go live on Spotify and other streaming platforms at midnight tonight.

Today's numbers naturally indicate the huge appeal of the new mixtape, but would also suggest big growth for Cupertino in the streaming sector just as the first batch of subscriptions end their trial period. As has happened so many times before, hip hop leads the way.
