U.K. FRIDAY PREVIEW: CLASSIC ROCKERS PLUG IN

Lana Del Rey’s fourth album, Honeymoon (released on Polydor in Blighty), looks like Friday’s hottest new release, but two veteran rock guitarists, in the shape of The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, are likely to appeal to upper-demo consumers.

71-year-old Richards’ third solo album, Crosseyed Heart, on his own Mindless label and distributed via Virgin/EMI, is high on the priority lists of U.K. retailers. Debut single "Trouble" has had 58 plays this week across U.K. radio.

The set, produced by Richards and Steve Jordan, has earned solid reviews. Promo has included plenty of magazine interviews, an appearance at the iHeartRadio ICONS event in NYC earlier this week, and will culminate in Richards playing a visit to The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night.

The 69-year-old Gilmour's fourth solo studio album, Rattle That Lock, is under exclusive license to Columbia and was produced by Gilmour and Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera. Its on air/on sale title track debuted on BBC Radio 2's The Chris Evans Breakfast Show in July, and was made Record of the Week (getting at least one play per day) from 8/3.

A second track, "Today," released early this month, has had (very) sporadic U.K. radio airplay this last week. Other promo has included an interview on Spotify that featured alongside two playlists curated around Gilmour's career and inspirations. Gilmour plays the 9k capacity Le Théâtre Antique in Orange, France, tonight and will play a run of five dates at London's Royal Albert Hall from 9/23.

Her Majesty has requested a reprise of the giant inflatable pig.
