CASTELAZ TO STEP DOWN FROM TOP POST AT ELEKTRA

Jeff Castelaz has resigned as President of Elektra Records three years after taking the job. The news was disseminated this morning via a press release from Scoop Marketing.

According to the announcement, Castelaz will now “focus exclusively on the growth of his Cast Management and ongoing charitable endeavors.” His last day at Elektra is Friday; he’ll be reachable at Cast Management beginning Oct. 1.

In his official statement, Castelaz described the Elektra job as “a dream come true,” but explained that “in my heart, it’s clear to me that I can contribute most significantly by working directly with artists in a managerial role, which is why I’m choosing to focus solely on Cast.”

Castelaz co-founded and led Dangerbird Records and Music Publishing from 2003 to 2012, signing and having his greatest success with Silversun Pickups and Fitz and the Tantrums. He formed Cast Management in his hometown of Milwaukee in 1992. The company, now based in L.A., now manages Dropkick Murphys and writer/producers Justin Meldal-Johnsen and Tony Hoffer.

In 2008, Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill founded The Pablove Foundation, a pediatric cancer charity, which has raised nearly $10m in funds for innovative pediatric cancer research and programs that improve the lives of kids and families living with childhood cancer. Next month, Castelaz, who serves as Chairman of the board for the Foundation, will lead the seventh annual week-long cycling event, Pablove Across America, as 40 cyclists ride from San Francisco to L.A.to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer.
