JT GOES TO MEMPHIS

Justin Timberlake Among Those to be Inducted into Memphis Music Hall of Fame

RCA pop icon Justin Timberlake will be among those inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, it was announced today.

The induction ceremony will take place at Cannon Center in downtown Memphis on 10/17.

Other honorees include Sam & Dave and Elvis Presley guitarist Scotty Moore, along with Booker T. and the MGs drummer Alan Jackson Jr., blues songstress Alberta Hunter, renowned pianist Memphis Slim and Country singer Charlie Rich.

The concept of a mainstream pop star being recognized by Memphis might seem a bit strange at first, but the Hall's guidelines are certainly not genre restrictive; they simply look for artists with strong ties to the city.

Rappers and Memphis natives Three 6 Mafia, for example, were admitted back in 2012.

Timberlake was born there, is a minority owner of the Memphis Grizzlies and has donated to both the Memphis Rock N' Soul Museum and the Memphis Music Foundation. Talk about a hometown hero.
