MARS IS THE TICKET FOR SUPER BOWL 50—EW

Bruno Mars has been offered Super Bowl 50 halftime show spot for the second time, EW.com reports, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.

While the news is unconfirmed, this move is a no-brainer for the NFL, given that Bruno delivered the highest-ever ratings for a Super Bowl halftime show in 2014. That one, you may recall, was numbered XLVIII—or 48 to us non-Romans—when Bruno and the Chili Peppers were sandwiched between the two halves of the Seattle Seahawks’ annihilation of the Denver Broncos.

While he hasn’t released an album since that triumph, Bruno is largely responsible for the biggest single of the year in Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!”—strongly suggesting that Ronson will be on hand to play that JB’s-derived chicken-scratch rhythm guitar on the 50-yard line of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, home of the 49ers.
