A Couple of Graphics That Could Probably Spit a Verse

It’s time to take a look at some streaming stats—and, in doing so, to recognize the awe-inspiring power of hip hop, which dominates the medium.

The following graphic represents first-week streaming numbers over 10m, and includes all reporting streaming services. Dr. Dre’s Compton: A Soundtrack will likely be #4 for the year, thus far, even though the album is exclusive to Apple Music.

** Drake released his album on a Friday, before the new charting period. His first week is only three days.

The chart below runs down 2015’s biggest individual weeks of streaming. Dre should come in at about #9 on this list. It’s worth noting that of the 30 weeks with streaming totals over 15m, Drake wins 16 of those weeks.
