Soundtrack to Hugely Anticipated Movie Filled With Hip-Hop Heavyweights

We’ve been waiting for the news to drop, and now it has: Compton, A Soundtrack, the hugely anticipated new Aftermath/Interscope set from Dr. Dre, will street on 8/7, one week before the madly buzzing N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton, hits movie screens. The announcement came, fittingly enough, on Dre’s Beats 1 radio show, The Pharmacy.

The 16-track collection, featuring Ice Cube, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, The Game and Xzibit, among other guests, is now available for preorder on iTunes. A track listing appears below.

Will the album be an Apple exclusive? If so, for how long?

The good vibes were flowing as Dre, Cube and director F. Gary Gray discussed the making of the film and the continuing relevance and resonance of the music. The show ended with an emotional dedication to the late Eazy-E: Donny Hathaway's rendition of Leon Russell's "A Song for You."

Are we geeked to hear this record and see this movie? You could say that.
