BIG DEAL GETS BIGGER

Expansion was the buzzword of the week at Big Deal Music, which on Monday moved into significantly larger quarters on Ventura Blvd. in Encino, and yesterday announced the formation and launch of Global Music Initiatives. The new entity will look to leverage data and emerging technologies to discover and develop traditional and nontraditional partnerships in order to better serve their roster, it says here. Industry veteran Mark Tindle has been brought in to oversee the department.

“We recognize there are untapped opportunities that can greatly benefit the exposure and profile of a songwriter and their music that are only revealed through reading the tea leaves,” Big Deal prexy Kenny MacPherson colorfully observed (at least we think that’s what he said). “This new department will leverage available social and digital market insights and big data to mine and discover where we can go to develop new ventures for our music. Tindle brings years of experience and relationships within both data and music to our team.”

The new guy’s resume includes nearly a decade as SVP/GM of Nielsen Entertainment’s music division, following 13 years as a promo exec at A&M Records, where he was frequently obliged to phone our own Todd Hensley in Abilene, Texas and corral boxes of Del Amitri cleans.

“Big Deal has an amazing roster of songwriting talent, as well as an awesome business team who are dedicated and passionate about the artists they serve,” Tindle noted, adding that he’s “thrilled to be working on behalf of music creators and looking forward to making things happen.”
