DANIELS SPLITS MTV FOR YOUTUBE

MTV programming chief Susanne Daniels is heading to YouTube in a newly created position leading the platform’s budding original content efforts, Variety reports.

Daniels’ departure follows on the heels of the exit of longtime VH1 topper Tom Calderone, and comes five months after Viacom Music and Logo Group President Van Toffler announced that he was leaving the company.

As vice president of YouTube originals, Daniels will oversee development and production of content for the video colossus. She’ll report to Global Head of Content and Business Operations Robert Kyncl, who has talked about the need to ramp up original content as YouTube prepares to take its viral stars and take their programming efforts to the next level.

“Susanne is an executive whose incredible instincts have led her to consistently generate pop culture hits that audiences relate to and root for,” said Kyncl. “Susanne’s deep expertise in programming will be invaluable to us and our top creators and help them foster even more ambitious projects for YouTube.”
