NBA Summer League—that oasis of high-end hoops in the desert—concluded Monday night, but there’s one last order of business to attend to before basketball fans begin their three-month hibernation. We’re referring to the first-ever Players’ Awards, airing on BET tonight at 8pm, live from Vegas—giving the players a reason to hang around Sin City one more night. The show identifies exceptional players by way of votes from their peer, much like the Emmys or Oscars.
In addition to awards given out in such categories as MVP, Best Defender, Best Rookie, Clutch Performer and Coach You Would Want to Play For, the show will include performances from Fifth Harmony featuring Kid Ink, Lil Wayne (!), Jason Derulo and Monica.
The show was co-produced by BET and Jeff Kwatinetz’s Prospect Park.
