BAHA BROUHAHA

When a song connects on a level that it becomes part of the fabric of our very culture, that's a achievement way beyond having a hit record.

Baha Men's rowdy anthem "Who Let The Dogs Out?" was the first release on Steve Greenberg's S-Curve label. It was also one of the first times we were all instigated to TURN UP, and it truly changed how music and sports fuse for momentum at stadiums. In celebration of the 15th anniversary of it's release and subsequent influence, the story behind the song's creation and marketing strategies is being examined by Sports Illustrated.

“‘Who Let the Dogs Out’ peaked at the World Series," explains Greenberg, "it was the biggest sports anthem ever, in the sense that it got all its strength from being a sports anthem, and the radio was secondary. It was the only hit record that was ever like that.”

The Baha Men are pictured here at the 2000 World Series with the legendary A-Rod, whose own dog, when let out, is usually in a Maserati.
