DEMI WHAMMY—UPDATE

Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer,” the debut single from her forthcoming fifth studio album, produced by Max Martin and Wolf Cousins, dropped Wednesday morning and and flew straight to #1 at iTunes—not just in the States but in 35 countries. Both Republic and Hollywood's ace promotion teams are driving this soon-to-be radio smash.

Lovato has embarked on a whirlwind promo tour that will find her dropping into cities across the U.S. throughout the holiday weekend. She’s doing pool parties this weekend for both KIIS and Z100. Both promo squads have been setting it all up with a vengeance.

The single is Lovato's first release on the recently formed JV between Safehouse, Island and Hollywood. Lovato, 22, launched Safehouse with partners Nick Jonas and mega-manager Phil McIntyre.

Elvis Duran debuted “Cool for the Summer” on his Z100 show Wednesday morning. The designated iHeart World Premiere will be spun every hour all day across all of the giant chain’s Top 40 outlets.

“This time around, I’m free to explore,” Demi said of her novel new situation. “I can try anything, I can push my boundaries. It’s been so exciting to get back in the studio and hone in on my sound. This album is going to surprise some people and I can’t wait for my fans to take this journey with me.”
