Miranda Hits Chicago Early for Cover-Band Blowout Before Chesney Stadium Gig

Though Miranda Lambert is only doing one stadium on Kenny Chesney’s Big Revival 2015 Tour—at Chicago’s Soldier Field tomorrow—you gotta love a woman who hits town early and takes over a bar. The queen of all awards checked into noted roots/rock/writer room Joe’s Bar with Permnent Damage (sic), her band/crew’s blowing-off-steam covers band.

Hitting people up on Instagram with #coversongs, #roadfamily, #beer, #roadies, she called an 8 pm show time, and joined by friend Gwen Sebastian in a second Instagram told fans and friends, “Knock Loud” #werewiththeband. They rocked all night, covering Foo Fighters, No Doubt and The B-52's, among others, but it’s nothing like what’s gonna happen at the football stadium on Saturday.

Chesney (recently deemed “Two parts Mick Jagger, one part Bruce Springsteen and one part Billy Graham” by The Dallas Morning News) broke his own record at Pittsburgh’s Heinz Stadium last week with 55,381. No word on final numbers in Chicago, but with Miranda already warming up, she’s bringing the heat for what will be two forces of nature on the shores of Lake Michigan.
