"PHENOMENAL" CROSS-MARKETING

The tie-ns are every which way but loose, as Shady/Interscope announces the July release of the soundtrack to Weinstein Company feature film Southpaw, whose lead single, Eminem’s "Phenomenal," which will be used in the film trailer, is previewed in a new Beats by Dr. Dre commercial featuring the Golden State WarriorsDraymond Green. Got that?

“We’ve been involved in developing Southpaw since its inception, and Eminem has dedicated himself to ensuring that this film captured his passion for the project through his music,” said Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg. “We've assembled a great soundtrack to accompany what's sure to be one of the finest boxing films ever.”

The album is titled Southpaw (Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture). The film, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and written by Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy, The Shield), stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

As for the Beats spot, it could be argued “Phenomenal” more aptly describes Warriors star and league MVP Steph Curry, than Green, but the versatile Draymond is a key piece of the deepest, most entertaining team in the playoffs. In a thriller Thursday night, he Warriors held off the Houston Rockets, led by the comparably phenomenal James Harden, to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals.
