Rolling Stone has lent some love today to RCA's a cappella sensations Pentatonix just in time for their Pitch Perfect 2 appearance.
In the flick, The Bellas—led by Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow & co.—come throat-to-throat in an a cappella battle with a rivaling Canadian team, played by PTX.
You may recall that the quintet's Q4 2014 set That's Christmas to Me reached #2 on the U.S. album chart, landing ahead of Eminem's ShadyXV comp and outselling every album short of Taylor Swift's unstoppable 1989. A few weeks earlier, it even briefly dethroned Swift from the top of the iTunes' list of most downloaded LPs." It was 2014's fourth-top-selling album overall.
Pitch Perfect opened in the fall of 2012, scoring $5m+ in a limited release that included just 335 theaters. Now, their total gross has reached $65m domestically and $113m worldwide.
The highly anticipated sequel opens tommorow 5/15. The corresponding soundtrack is a contender for a #1 bow on next week's sales charts. Be sure to snag your tix soon, and don't forget the maple syrup for your popcorn.
