Big Machine Label Group chieftain Scott Borchetta, who’ll be receiving the Presidential Award on Thursday at the Music Biz 2015 conference in Nashville, received a different sort of honor in L.A. last week, having been the sole music-industry figure to address Fast Company’s Creativity Conference. He joined L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, Oprah Winfrey Network’s co-presidents, actress Jessica Alba and other notables during the panel—moderated by Fast Company Editor in Chief Robert Safian—and discussed not only business and creativity but also his “Outnumber Hunger” initiative. Then, in his capacity as an American Idol Mentor, he advised Garcetti to try using more chest voice.
