THIS CHART'S SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED

Alabama Shakes See #1 Debut for Sophomore Release

ATO’s Alabama Shakes have officially topped the HITS Building Album Sales Chart with 87k and the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart with 92k for their sophomore release.

Sound & Color serves as the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated debut album, which was released in 2012 and is currently approaching Platinum status. FYI, this release has more than tripled the previous’ first-week sales.

At #2, alternative hip-hopper Yelawolf debuts with 55k for Love Story through Shady/Interscope.

On the SPS side, however, the Furious 7 ST proves its strength at #2 thanks to a multitude of impressive singles from A-List artists. The film counterpart, released through Universal, recently became the third movie to cross the $1b mark globally and the fifth highest grossing movie in history.

Warner Music Latina's Mexican pop/rock band Maná bows at #4 with 26k in album sales for Cama Incendiada, the band's ninth studio album. If you're unaware, they've earned a total of four Grammy awards and seven Latin Grammy awards over the years. ¡Ay, caramba!

Columbia's Passion Pit delivers the only other debut in the Top 15, scoring 17k for Kindred (#12).

YMCMB/Republic’s Drake rounds out the Top 3 in album sales, rocketing from #20 and earning another 26k for his Q1 mixtape. The iconic rapper more than doubled last week’s sales thanks to a successful physical release. If you're reading this, it's apparently never too late.

Back to the theme of highly successful, singles-driven soundtracks, Republic's Fifty Shades of Grey sees a #17-5 difference between album sales and SPS.

Continually one of the biggest beneficiaries of single sales and streaming, YMCMB/Republic's Nicki Minaj moves back into the Top 20 at SPS, despite no longer being on the album sales chart.

Streeting this week are albums from Southern Ground/Varvatos/BMLG/Republic’s Zac Brown Band and Reprise’s Josh Groban.

Expect a plethora of promo shots of Zac Brown Band members in matching Varvatos cowboy boots and hats courtesy of Republic. Ethos!
