COACHELLA WEEK: THE TIME BETWEEN

The four days between the two Coachella weekends provide SoCal music lovers with myriad opportunities to see high-level acts in one-off appearances, as bands playing the fest take advantage of this annual window. These gigs come on top of the regularly scheduled tour stops of non-Coachella acts.

All of this activity has our own #henchhipster Samantha Hissong in perpetual motion as she not only covers both weekends but attends a club date in each of the intervening weeknights. In the photo at left she's seen posing with The KillersBrandon Flowers (Island), who hit town last night to showcase his solo material.

According to her, Flowers filled the room with tangible ebullience on earworm "Crossfire," which climbed through the Top 10 at Alt radio in 2010, and current single, "Can't Deny My Love," which should chart next week. He also threw it back with Killers favorites "Jenny Was a Friend of Mine," "Read My Mind," "Human" and the Jacques Le Cont remix of "Mr. Brightside." With help from producer Ariel Rechtshaid (HAIM, Vampire Weekend, Sky Ferreira), his upcoming album, The Desired Effect, is set to drop 5/19.

And here’s one of our favorite bands, The War on Drugs, performing "Under the Pressure" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night, filling their dance card between Saturday Coachella appearances.
