A NEW LOW FOR HITS ALBUM CHART

Hopeless’ All Time Low Scores the First Indie Album #1 in Two Years

Hopeless RecordsAll Time Low celebrate a decade since the release of their debut album with a #1 bow for their sixth full-length, Future Hearts. The album tops the HITS Building Album Sales Chart with 70k.

The pop-punk troupe’s feat marks the first indie album #1 since Queens of the Stone Age took the crown in 2013; that success followed #1s by Vampire Weekend and The National.

As for the other debuts, Capitol’s Brian Wilson and IAmSound’s Lord Huron both earned around 16k, landing at #16 and #14 respectively.

The soundtrack to Universal’s Furious 7 earns another 45k and moves to #2, up 25% for album sales. However, it pushes to #1 with 107k on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart, thanks in large part to Wiz Khalifa's single.

Speaking of soundtracks, Twentieth Century Fox/Columbia’s Empire cast moves #12-5 with another 25k on the album side and #15-10 with 30k at SPS, while Republic’s Fifty Shades of Grey ST moves #21-12 in album sales.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of single sales and streaming this week has got to be RCA’s Walk the Moon. Talking is Hard flew #32-15 at SPS, while sitting at #46 for album sales alone. Its lead single, “Shut Up and Dance,” just jumped #20-15 at Top 40 radio. It’s also the #2 single at iTunes. Talk about a smash.

Meanwhile, Island’s Shawn Mendes sees his debut album, Handwritten, street this week and head towards a triple-digit, chart-topping bow.

Also streeting this week are albums from Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator and Big Machine’s Reba McEntire.
