All Things Must Pass, the documentary feature about Tower Records directed by Colin Hanks (son of Tom), earned a standing ovation when it had its world premiere Tuesday at the SXSW Film Fest.
The film, financed in part by a Kickstarter campaign, is the younger Hanks’ first feature. He spent seven years working on the film. “No one else had done it. No one else was doing it,” said Hanks, who grew up in Sacramento. "I'm a big music fanatic."
There’s no trailer, but here’s the 2011 fundraising piece Hanks made in 2011. The late sales legend Jayne Simon shows up photographically right at the top.
