RITTBERG GETS GM STRIPES AT VERVE

Exec to Handle Ops, Artist Development and Release Schedule

Verve Music Group has officially upped Mike Rittberg to GM, reporting to Chairman David Foster.

Based in the company's Santa Monica offices, Rittberg will oversee operations, artist development and release schedule, interface with Interscope Geffen A&M (which handles sales, marketing and film/TV licensing for Verve) and pretend to understand jazz. He previously served as SVP Branding and Marketing.

"I'm honored to carry on the tradition of great music coming from Verve as we redevelop its brand during the coming year," Rittberg said. "I'm especially grateful to David Foster, Michele Anthony, John Janick, Steve Berman and David Cohen for this incredible opportunity and for their support."

For his part, Foster congratulated Rittberg on his "well-deserved" promotion and called him a "wonderful partner." The two execs then traded sax solos for 64 bars of "Salt Peanuts."
