NOW’S THE TIME FOR A CHART ATTACK

NOW 53 #1 for Album Sales; Fifth Harmony Enjoys Top 3 Debut; Taylor Swift Rules SPS

The 53rd edition of the NOW series has topped the HITS Building Album Sales Chart with 98k for NOW/Legacy, but the real story surrounds newcomers Fifth Harmony.

SYCO/Epic’s quintet of pop songstresses saw their debut album, Reflection, bow at #3 with 62k. They actually earned a heightened 80k on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart. FYI, current single, “Sledgehammer,” is about to climb the Top 25 at Pop radio.

Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, who slides ever so slightly to #2 this week, earns another 77k for 1989. As for SPS, however, she reigns at #1 with a whopping 107k due to big success with three singles: “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Style.”

Capitol quadruple Grammy winner Sam Smith keeps plugging right along, remaining at #4 with 56k on the album sales side and inching upward to #3 with 84k on the SPS side.

MusiCares Person of the Year Bob Dylan debuts at #6 with 45k for Shadows in the Night (Columbia) and remains in the Top 10 at #9 for SPS.

Also debuting, Verve’s Diana Krall hits #7 with 43k (#8 SPS) and RCA’s Kid Ink appears at #10 with 30k (#14 SPS).

Columbia’s Hozier, who shined on the Grammy stage with Annie Lennox Sunday night, jumps #17-12 with 21k (up 41%) and holds steady at #11 for SPS.

Back over at Capitol, where the champagne still hasn’t stopped flowing, Beck’s Morning Phase re-enters at #21 on the album chart and #23 on SPS, while Katy Perry’s PRISM re-enters at #23 on the album chart and #27 on SPS.

It’s also worth noting that Katy's 2010 release Teenage Dream, which was brought back to the public’s attention via the Super Bowl, re-entered at #25 on the album chart and #27 on SPS.
