NORTHWESTERN WILD KITTENS

The celebrated grrrl-punk band Sleater-Kinney is back—No Cities to Love came out last week on Sub Pop—and the press has made a very big deal about the reunion; The New York Times hailed the trio’s eighth LP as “the first great album of 2015.” Now, right on cue, Carrie Brownstein (moonlighting from her day job with Portlandia), Corin Tucker and Janet Weiss have signed a deal with with Big Deal Music in league with longtime pubco BMG. Said David Hirshland of BMG Chrysalis U.S., “Partnering with Big Deal is a very exciting prospect as we together look to maximize the reach of this new album.” Added Big Deal’s Dave Ayers, pairing smoky eye shadow with his beard for the occasion, “The record is a real watershed, and there's a whole new generation of fans about to be born right before our eyes.”
