The 87th Academy Award nominations, announced this morning, have a distinctly art-house feel. Leading the pack are Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman with nine nominations apiece, including Best Picture. They’re competing againstAmerican SniperBoyhoodSelma,The Imitation GameWhiplash and The Theory of Everything. That’s right, folks, the Academy has settled on just eight films for the big prize this time.
