DAVE’S DIAMONDS

How does Dave Grohl celebrate his birthday? With RAWK, baby—and the Foo Fighters’ fest at L.A.’s fabulously refurbished Forum on Saturday night (mere days after its surprise announcement) was some fantasy-camp fun. Guest performers included David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper, Slash, Paul Stanley, Lemmy Kilmister, Perry Farrell, Tenacious D and Zakk Wylde. The show marked Grohl’s 46th and saw the Roswell/RCA band and friends blasting through “Immigrant Song,” “School’s Out,” “Panama,” “Tie Your Mother Down,” “Detroit Rock City,” “Mountain Song” and other classic covers, not to mention a tight batch of Foos originals. Best of all, proceeds benefited MusiCares, Sweet Relief and the Rock School Scholarship Fund. Tix, priced at around $50, went fast. More details (and some shaky video) here.
