Doors rock doc

STRANGE DAYS REVISITED: Following a festival run, When You’re Strange: A Film About The Doors will go into limited release in select markets April 9, with the soundtrack album coming March 30 on Rhino. Directed by Tom DiCillo, the rock doc follows the band from UCLA’s film school, where Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison met, to Morrison’s death in 1971. Said Johnny Depp, who narrates, “Watching the hypnotic, hitherto unreleased footage of Jim, John, Ray and Robby, I felt like I experienced it all through their eyes. As a rock n’ roll documentary, or any kind of documentary for that matter, it simply doesn’t get any better than this. What an honor to have been involved. I am as proud of this as anything I have ever done.” Added Dick Wolf of Law & Order fame, whose company produced the film in association with Rhino Entertainment, “This movie is the story of the band, but it is also an insight into a moment in time that will never be repeated.” (2/17a)
