Limewire Party

LIMEWIRED: This week’s Digital Music Forum in New York is already causing controversy with the announcement that longtime label nemesis LimeWire will host the official post-event party this Thursday night, from 6-8 p.m., at the company’s offices at 45 Howard Street. Already indie org A2IM chief Rich Bengloff is refusing to endorse the event, which will feature performances by Andrew WK, Vivian Girls and Justin Nozuka. “Creators of music and the music labels that invest in that creation should be compensated for their music unless the content owner or artist decides, at his or her discretion, to discount or give away that music for a window of time," Bengloff messaged members in the afternoon. "I will not be attending the LimeWire reception as it could appear to be seen as an endorsement of LimeWire by A2IM." (1/23a)
