SXSW pick: Ray Davies w/ The 88

DEDICATED FOLLOWERS OF FASHION: The 88 will be performing two SXSW sets at La Zona Rosa March 18, the second one backing the great Ray Davies, as they’re now doing on the Kinks auteur’s tour (and blogging about it at Buzzbands.la). Also on the tasty bill are John Hiatt, Roky Erickson and local kids Okkervil River. The L.A..-based indie band, which released an album on Island a couple of years ago, recently drew attention when it did something unprecedented—recording a track entirely on an iPhone. Released exclusively on iTunes, the resulting "Love Is The Thing" became the band's most downloaded song inside its first 24 hours of availability.  (3/3a)
