Disney vs. Cablevision

BRINKSMANSHIP: The Walt Disney Company and Cablevision reached a last-minute compromise that allowed New York area customers to receive last night's ABC Oscar telecast approximately 13 minutes into the show, just in time for the first award presentation. Participants say the agreement is still tentative and could unravel, just the latest dispute between program suppliers and cable operators over fees. In January, Time Warner battled with Fox in the L.A. area, forging a similar settlement just before deadline. (3/8a)
