Wayne Chernin to Universal Motown Republic

WAYNE’S WORLD: Wayne Chernin is named SVP Sales and Field Marketing for Universal Motown Republic Group by Chairman Mel Lewinter, Universal Motown President Sylvia Rhone and Universal Republic President/CEO Monte Lipman. That should fill up the dude’s BlackBerry in a hurry. The well-respected Chernin was previously VP Field & Sales Marketing for the two labels. He’ll oversee all sales activities, while spearheading extensive retail marketing efforts. Chernin began his tenure at PolyGram, rising to Island VP Sales, where he won the Chris Blackwell More Bong for Your Buck award, presented to the label employee who generated the “highest” annual revenue, three years in a row.
