American Idiot The Movie

IDIOT WIND: Green Day’s American Idiot album, whose Broadway premiere takes place April 20, could become a feature film next, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily’s Mike Fleming. Talks are reportedly underway with Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, the pair behind the movie version of Mamma Mia!, to turn the musical into a movie. The Broadway show is being directed by Spring Awakening’s Michael Mayer, after originating at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, with Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman producing, and begins previews this week at the St. James Theatre.
