Doobie pub sues EMI

MINUTE BY MINUTE: It isn’t easy being EMI. Now the company has been sued for alleged failure to pay royalties to artists including the Doobie Brothers and Chris LeDoux, The Guardian reported. What isn’t clear is whether the songs in question are from the Tom Johnston Doobies or the Michael McDonald Doobies. The suit, brought by copyright administrator Bluewater Music Services, involves two dozen songs used in compilations and as ringtones. The charges come just weeks after the U.K. High Court ruled against EMI in a dispute over royalties brought by Pink Floyd. (3/30a)
