PELOSI BACKS PERFORMANCE: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has followed the lead of President Barack Obama by backing the Performance Rights Act. Speaking at the Recording Academy’s “Grammy on the Hill,” she said: “Singers, songwriters and musicians deserve to be compensated for their creativity… The rights of performers are not forgotten. You have an army of advocates by your side—from both parties—on Capitol Hill.” She said nothing about music trade journalists, however. (4/16p)
