Ansari Hosts MTV Movie Awards

MTV GETS A KICK IN THE AZIZ: Comedy star Aziz Ansari, who started out at the network on the comedy sketch show Human Giant, will host the 19th annual MTV Movie Awards, June 6. MTV GM Stephen Friedman said:  “Aziz is the perfect host as he will bring his innovative comedy and distinctive style to the movie industry's most rebellious night on television.” Past hosts have included Andy Samberg, Ben Stiller, Jimmy Fallon, Mike Myers, Sarah Silverman and Justin Timberlake.  Anzari currently co-stars with Amy Poehler in NBC’s Parks and Recreation, and memorably appeared in Judd Apatow’s Funny People as the viral sensation “Raaaaandy.” He is also co-starring in Get Him to the Greek this summer with Russell Brand, Jonah Hill and P. Diddy and is currently developing films for Apatow with his Human Giant collaborator, director Jason Woliner. (4/19p)
