EMI Music Tops ASCAP

EMI’S ASCAPPER: EMI Music Publishing added yet another feather to its cap by being named Publisher of the Year at the annual ASCAP Pop Awards for the eighth consecutive year, which made the evening, in which Patti Smith and The Killers were also feted, a triumph for the pubbery's Roger Faxon and Big Jon Platt. The honor, which measures airplay on songs from client writer/producers, represented the 16th time EMI has taken the top honors in the awards show’s 27-year history. Among the winners were Chris Henderson (Jamie Foxx’s “Blame It”), Fergie (“Boom Boom Pow,” “I Gotta Feeling”), Beyonce (“Single Ladies” “Sweet Dreams,” “Halo”), Rob Thomas (“Her Diamonds”) and Janet “Jnay” Sewell (Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind”).
