BMI Awards

BMI FETES SWIFT, REDONE, FOGERTY: Taylor Swift, RedOne and John Fogerty were the big winners at last night’s BMI 58th annual Pop Music Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Swift’s “Love Story” was named Song of the Year, making the 20-year-old Sony/ATV Music tunesmith the youngest songwriter ever to win the award, while Lady Gaga producer/writer RedOne earned his first-ever Songwriter of the Year honors. Warner-Tamerlane Publishing Corp. was named Publisher of the year, while John Fogerty was honored as a BMI Icon, going on to perform a medley of “Travelin’ Band,” Centerfield,” “Don’t You With It Was True,” “Green River,” Rambunctious Boy” and “Up Around the Bend,” followed by “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” and a finale of “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son” and “Proud Mary," with BMI ruler Del Bryant sitting in on tambourine.
