Facebook simplifies privacy settings

WHAT’S ON YOUR MIND? Facebook unveiled a range of simplified privacy controls yesterday after being roundly criticized for the complexity of its previous controls (around 150 options had to be dealt with) as well as the unauthorized sharing of user info with third parties. Mark Zuckerberg broke the news in a blog, writing, "We've focused on three things: a single control for your content, more powerful controls for your basic information and an easy control to turn off all applications… Already, partner sites can only see things you've made visible to everyone. But if you want to prevent them from even seeing that, you can now easily turn off instant personalization completely.” (5/27a)
