NOTHIN’ BUT NET: Buzzmedia (www.buzz-media.com ), which has been gobbling up high-end music-focused sites like some digital mutation of Pac Man, chose Memorial Day to announce that it had snagged six more playas in the space: PureVolume, PopMatters, Gorilla vs. Bear, The Hype Machine, Concrete Loop and RCRD LBL. Collectively, these sites connect with north of 5 million fans a month, according to the release. Hard to say what might be the next target in the acquisitive company’s sights, but they’ve now bagged pretty much every primary and secondary music/editorial site with mainstream visibility, with a portfolio led by Stereogum, Idolator and Absolute Punk, as well as the Buzznet mother ship.
