LimeWire Squeezed

LIMEWIRE SQUEEZED: LimeWire lawyers were given two weeks by U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood to respond to an RIAA motion to shutter the site immediately. The industry org is also looking to freeze the assets of founder Mark Gorton and other executives, spurred by the judge’s decision to hold them directly liable for infringement. A trial for damages will take place in January. The RIAA informed the court that LimeWire has attempted to move assets into Gorton-controlled “family partnerships” with the intention of shielding those assets from a judgment award in the case.
