MODERN PATRONAGE: The upcoming New Music Seminar has rejoined with OurStage to offer $40,000 in gear, promotion and marketing to the winning rock band in its "Artist on the Verge" contest, already underway at www.ourstage.com/go/artistontheverge. Finalists will be invited to New York for a face-off July 20, with the winner announced on July 21. The cash pot is up from the $25,000 offered during an earlier round, and the winner will receive consultation from various industry executives. The organization is also involved in picking an opening act for 35 dates on Hanson’s upcoming “Shout It Out” tour, beginning July 21. Entries for the first leg's opening act competition, which covers shows through August 15, are be accepted at http://www.ourstage.com/go/hanson now through June 21 at 11:59 pm.
