David Geffen Eyes Clippers, LeBron

CLIP JOINT: N.Y. Post hoops junkie/columnist Peter Vecsey reports rumors of David Geffen angling to buy a controlling interest in the L.A. Clippers from Donald Sterling to make a run at free agent LeBron James. The story highlights David Stern’s dinner meeting with Sterling, ostensibly to get him to pay the $6 million he owes to fired coach/GM Mike Dunleavy, but according to the grapevine, what it would take to get him to sell. Other sources insist that Sterling “will take the Clippers to the grave with him” because it’s the only way he gets to hobnob with Hollywood celebs while seated in his traditional mid-courtside seat. Geffen was seen at last Sunday's game at the Staples Center on the floor sitting next to LeBron's right-hand business advisor Maverick Carter by the Lakers' bench. Vecsey also reports LeBron is leaning towards signing a new three-year deal with his hometown Cavaliers, only to ink to his pal Jay-Z’s Nets when they're scheduled to move to Brooklyn. (6/8p)
