GOOGLE EYEING MUSIC RETAIL PLAY? Apple's iTunes store may have some competition soon. According to CNet, Google could launch a music service that offers song downloads and streaming music as early as this fall. With Google’s Android mobile phone operating system starting to challenge the iPhone, the company is expected to give users “a better music offering.” At a conference last month, Google offered attendees a demonstration of a possible iTunes competitor, while TechCrunch reported spotting a “Google Music” logo on its domain. At last January's Consumer Electronics Show, Google revealed features for a possible music store, including “tying digital downloads and streaming music to search results.” (6/15a)
