Lilith Tour Gives to Charity

LILITH GIVES AT THE OFFICE: Despite disappointing ticket sales for the current summer touring season, the Lilith Tour remains committed to the various charities it has been supporting, including the i4C Campaign, giving $1 a ticket from every ticket sold to a local, community organizer-selected women’s charity at every tour stop. Other beneficiaries of the tour include Alter Eco, a fair trade food company that connects to small independent farmers; Better World Books, which organizes drives at schools and libraries to collect used books, To-Go Ware, which makes utensils and food containers from bamboo, and Grameen America, a nonprofit microfinance bank that offers small loans to entrepreneurs living below the poverty line. Headlined by Sarah McLachlan, one of the co-founders along with Terry McBride and Marty Diamond, the tour gets underway June 27 in Calgary. Diamond is particularly proud of the fact that, in addition to McLachlan, more than half of the performers who will be appearing are new and developing acts. (6/18p)
