Vampire Weekend sued for cover pic

ROSTAM, WE HAVE A PROBLEM: Everybody loved that iconic shot of the uber-preppie chick in the Polo shirt on the cover of Vampire Weekend’s Contra—with one big exception. The brainy band is being sued for north of $2 million by the cover subject, one Kirsten Kennis, who claims an impostor forged her signature on the consent form, TMZ reported on Thursday. The unwilling model says the photo dates back in 1983, Kennis belatedly discovering she was on the cover of the high-profile indie record when XL Recordings started promoting the LP back in November. In the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in L.A. County Superior Court, Kennis fingers a "photographic release" the band obtained from a photographer named Tod Brody. Kennis blames the band for not verifying the legitimacy of the release and also names Brody in the suit. (7/16a)
