Jersey Shore Breaks MTV Records

SHORE THING: Last night’s Jersey Shore season two premiere on MTV was the #1 cable telecast of 2010 for persons 12-34, breaking series records with a 5.1 rating and 5.3 million total viewers. The telecast marked MTV’s best season premiere rating in more than seven years (since the season two launch of The Osbournes in Nov. 2002). The rating for the premiere was up 292% over Jersey Shore’s season one debut in Dec. 2009, and up 96% over season one average. The total viewership of 5.3 million for the season two premiere represented an increase of 280% over the season one debut of 1.4 million viewers, and 96% vs the season one average. Maybe Snooki was worth the raise in salary after all. (7/30p)
