The Web is Dead?

AN APP-ARENT SEA CHANGE: Maybe Prince was on to something last month when he said the Internet was over. According to Gawker, Wired Editor Chris Anderson is working on a piece for the mag with the provocative title, “The Web is Dead.” Anderson is expected to argue that more tightly controlled corners of the Internet, especially iPad and iPhone apps, are gradually supplanting the open Web as means of publishing and online networking,” writes Gawker’s Ryan Tate. Anderson wouldn’t confirm whether the report is accurate. (8/3a)
