Arcade Fire #1 in U.K.

ARCADE FIRE LIGHTS UP U.K.: Arcade Fire scored their first U.K. chart-topper with the band’s third album, The Suburbs, which came out on Mercury/Universal in Britain, with 61k in first-week sales, toppling Eminem’s Recovery, which had been #1 for the last three weeks. The album is expected to debut at #2 behind the rapper’s album here in the U.S. tomorrow, where it comes out on indie Merge. The group’s 2007 album, Neon Bible, debuted at #2 with 66k sales on the U.K. chart. Ne-Yo’s “Beautiful Monster” entered the singles chart at #1. Arcade Fire just confirmed details of a Live Nation-promoted U.K. arena tour in December 2010, beginning at the O2 Arena on Dec. 1, with dates at Birmingham LG Arena, Cardiff Arena, Manchester Central and Glasgow SECC.
