REESE DOES MISS PEGGY LEE: After winning an Oscar playing June Carter in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, Reese Witherspoon has set her sites on singer Peggy Lee, working on a movie about the singer with writer/director Nora Ephron. She will produce and is talking about starring. Witherspoon secured rights to the vocalist’s life from the Lee estate and approached Legally Blonde producer Marc Platt and Ephron to work with her. Lee got her start in the 1940s singing for Benny Goodman's band, then went on to record popular jazz-influenced albums and compose for film soundtracks, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1955 musical, Pete Kelly’s Blues.
