Quantcast
EMI earnings--better

ALL YOU NEED IS GOOD MUSIC: In a nice balance of new releases (Katy Perry, Lady A) and catalog (Beatles), EMI Group said pretax profits, after restructuring charges but before impairment charges on goodwill and intangible assets, were 121 million for the year ending on March 31, compared with just 7 million the previous year. Revenues were also up—to 1.65 billion from 1.56 billion in 2009. The total loss of 512 million was only about one-third of last year’s 1.57 billion deficit, after impairment charges of 602 million, due in part to lower growth expectations for the company’s digital and online business.
